Preference of mobile over computer

For the first time in our long history, people around the world are using their mobile phones more than the traditional desktop computer to access the internet.

The statistics site has said that it is only in the past 7 years that the total amount of people accessing the web from their device over a desktop went from almost zero to just over half of all people using the internet.

A leading reason for this shift seems to be the reliance on mobile seen in emerging markets. Many people in these countries around the world cannot afford the luxury of laptop and desktop computer.

As smartphones offer everything in one convenient device, many people from emerging markets rely on their phones not only for making calls and texts but as their primary source of internet access.

These statistics highlight the importance for companies to make sure that their website is 100% mobile friendly in 2020 and where possible, develop mobile apps for increased convenience.

The technology landscape is changing with every passing year. More people than ever before are online. and the ways that people are accessing the web all over the world are changing, too

The trends we’re already seeing in mobile and desktop internet use are Likely to continue.  As of now 3.7 billion people globally were accessing the internet from mobile devices. This year, it’s projected that 63.4 percent of all mobile phone users will be able to access the internet from their phones.

That’s especially true in developing countries where mobile devices are more accessible than desktop computers. China is currently home to more internet users than any other country in the world – 802 million users in total

– and 98 percent of them access the internet via a mobile device. India is close behind with 500 million internet users, with around 80 percent of them online via mobile devices.

A mobile app provides you a much more effective medium to deliver value to your customers, so that they keep using your app. It lets you offer a personalized experience to customers, presenting to them what they really want to see and suggest deals and offers they would find more relevant.
